Convention 2010
CCCS Convention a Worthwhile Event
For the 60 plus people who participated in the 2010 CCCS Convention, it was an unqualified success. From the Friday night dinner to the Sunday brunch, and everything in between, people enjoyed the camaraderie, the quality of the speakers, and the sumptuous table spreads of Uptown Caterer.
Our Keynote and Scholar in Residence was Professor Jack Wertheimer of the Jewish Theological Seminary. He challenged us with discussion of Western vs. Jewish values, how to provide more life to the synagogue, and a text study in-depth. His down-home friendliness endeared him to all, and his openness to questions allowed for discussions to take place all weekend.
Our guest presenter, Debbie Fink, wore the hats of a parent, a teenager, a rabbi and a Hebrew school principal, as she moved from persona to persona and brought to the "stage" real life situations and responses to them. The participants were very well engaged in the process, and came home with a great deal of food for thought.
