Let me start by wishing everyone a Joyous Channukah or more specifically
Chag Urim Sameach! A joyous Festival of Lights
For the only real mitzvah on Channukah is the kindling of the lights.
The actual miracle of Channukah is the triumph of the few against many; of liberty winning out over oppression; and the one-day oil supply that lasted for 8 days.
Our traditional observance is to light a menorah in a visible place within our home, near a doorway or by a window.
In a sense, the ability to light the Channukah lamps where all can see them is a litmus test of freedom.
May we never take for granted the ability for us to light our Menorahs.
